Resumo: The electricity consumption for water heating represents 24% of total residential consumption in Brazil. Even with 65.2% of the electricity generation being from a hydraulic source (renewable), in certain periods the levels of the reservoirs drecease, being necessary the activation of plants that use fossil fuels (non-renewable), which increases the cost of kWh. The annual average solar irradiance in Brazil is higher than several countries that have a long history of using solar energy, which is a clean and renewable source. In this work a study was carried out for the implementation of a solar water heating system in a hotel located in the Medianeira city in the state of Paraná. The investment required only for the purchase of the system is R$ 36,213.00, however, with the need to make adjustments in the hydraulic pipes the total investment would be R $ 66,000.00. Through the history average temperature analysis in the Medianeira city, it was estimated the amount of annual electric energy used for water heating for bathing in the hotel, which is 7.175 kWh. With the financial indicators analysis, payback values were obtained that were greater than the useful life of the IRR and NPV system, indicating that there is no economical feasibility for the execution of the project.
