The following project, developed for the conclusion of the UTFPR Graphic Design Technology course, presents the union of Graphic Design and Fashion Design, drawing on the knowledge acquired in both areas. The project consists of creating clothes and prints inspired by works of Brazilian artists Lygia Clark and Lygia Pape. In this way it is intended to attract more attention to their work, well recognized in the art scene, but little remembered by the general public. Both artists aimed to bring art and people's lives closer together, and the creation of pieces of clothing could be a way of achieving this approach. The research begins on the Neoconcretism artistic movement, of which both artists participated, and a study of the life and work of the artists, focusing on the two selected works as inspiration for the collection: Ttéias (2002) by Lygia Pape and Bichos (1960) by Lygia Clark. Concepts about Fashion and Surface Design are discussed below. The stamping project is focused on the creation of localized prints, which will be applied to the clothes through the technique of sublimation. The pieces will be developed based on more sustainable fashion concepts and no waste pattern cutting. To complete the project, a graphic mark will be created for the collection, alongside hanging tags to accompany the pieces, and a collection catalog. |
