Resumo: The present study aimed to know the main plant species used by the population of the municipality of Pato Branco / PR. For this, the data collection took place through a semi-structured interview in randomly selected neighborhoods of the urban area of the municipality. From the ethnobotanical survey, the knowledge of 51 plant species with medicinal properties belonging to 29 distinct families was recorded: Lamiaceae (9 spp.), Asteraceae (4 spp.), Apiaceae (3 spp.), Lauraceae (3 spp.), Liliaceae (3 spp.), Fabaceae (2 spp.), Malvaceae (2 spp.) Rutaceae (2 spp.). The seven species most cited were: Cymbopagan citratus (DC) Stapf. (lemon grass / lemon balm), Matricaria recutita L. (chamomile), Mentha sp. (mint), Peumus boldus Molina (boldo), Achyrocline satureioides (Lam.) DC. (macaque), Mentha pulegium L. (poejo) and Salvia officinalis L. (sage). The leaves are the most commonly used parts and infusion is the most commonly used form of preparation to prepare the plants for medicinal purposes. Fifteen plant species of interest to SUS were cited. The main therapeutic purposes for the medicinal plants mentioned were for the nervous system, digestive system and respiratory system. In view of the results of this research, it can be stated that the residents of the studied community have extensive knowledge about medicinal plants, especially among people over 40 years of age.
