Resumo: This study aims to identify the financial behavior of Civil Engineering and Accounting’ Students, Federal Technological University of Parana. Specifically, aims to check the factors that determine the financial behavior of academics from two distinct courses UTFPR Pato Branco campus, evaluating the combination of materialism profile of respondents in the propensity to spending and debt. For this, a survey was conducted among 229 students. Data were collected through a questionnaire. With regard to materialism, an index for each of its dimensions (centrality , happiness and success) from the sum of the responses of three variables was created . And for the propensity to indebtedness, an index was created from the sum of responses of nine variables. Overall, this study showed that, on average, students of Accounting and Civil Engineering Sciences, members of the sample studied today are somewhat materialistic, spend less or equal to what they earn, watching a propensity for consumption by facilities use credit only for the comfort and convenience it offers.
