Resumo: The present work was developed aiming to economically compare shallow foundation with slab foundation, for popular house construction, through a case study for three different soil resistances: a soil with elevated resistance, a soil with average resistance, and a soil with low resistance. The design was elaborated using the software Eberick AltoQi and the soil resistances calculated through soil investigation provided by the companies Itagiba and MGS Engineering, present in the region of Pato Branco. The budget composition was based on the tables SINAPI and Paraná Edificações, and the prices obtained from SINAPI for the region of Curitiba. With the development of the study and its analysis, it was possible to obtain the following results for each soil. For soil 1, the total budget for the shallow foundation was R$ 8.669,50 and for slab foundation R$ 10.791,97. For soil 2, the value obtained was R$ 8.799,40 for the shallow foundation and R$ 10.7991,97 for the slab foundation. For soil 3, the final budget for the shallow foundation was R$ 9.810,91, and for the slab foundation, it was R$ 10.791,97. Then, for the study proposal it is possible to comprehend that shallow foundations perform as more viable economically.
