Resumo: This paper aims to conduct a simulation of the potential gains from concrete job with increasing fck in structural design, the benefits in material consumption, cost and durability. The starting point of this study was to scale the structure of a building named "default" with fck 30 MPa, whereas that had first eight floors, floor 16 and then finally 32 floors, determining the amount of inputs necessary. Following proceeded again dimensioning the structure adopting fck 40 MPa for three possible number of floors, and finally adopted fck 50 MPa, similarly. Subsequently held analysis of inputs required for each different building considering fck. Consideration was also the lifetime of difference in design, adopting different fck's. The conclusions were that all modeled cases, in any of which the structure is designed with concrete fck equal to 30 MPa was obtained which had the advantages of higher strength concrete. It is also proven through life estimators, a structure of 50 MPa even though initially more expensive, will have a higher durability than concrete made with less resistance, pointing out that even spending a higher value, the benefits obtained by the choice of a higher fck tends to compensate. Finally, the gain of floor area on all floors is significant when we use a concrete with high strength, increasing thus the sales value of the property and the gains in the building as a whole. Thus it can be concluded based on the results obtained, which should be studied design options boldest so that the buildings start to have a higher performance and even lower values and higher returns than those currently performed with a concrete conventional.
