This paper presents an overview of the designing methods for rigid mat foundations, along with some essential concepts for them, such as the settlements estimation, soilstructure interaction, and best-known methods for modeling mat foundations. A Mat foundation on elastic base has been designed with the aid of SAP 2000 software in order to obtain the internal stresses of the structure of a 2 (two) story building. The main object of study is the soil-structure interaction, considering soil as a linear elastic half-space, and it used a non-rigid discretization method, more specifically Winkler’s hypothesis, which considers the soil as a bed of springs distributed uniformly. The criteria for obtaining the coefficient of subgrade reaction are presented throughout the work in a specific chapter. As a result, it was possible to realize the importance of soilstructure interaction analysis to approximate the analytical model with the actual behavior of the structure. |
