Resumo: This paper presents an analysis of the influence of choosing between masonry and drywall, as internal vertical sealing systems, in the structure of the same building. At first, the characterization of the systems was made, pointing out its components, execution methods, and advantages and disadvantages of each one. The structural analysis was based on a five-story building. The preliminary design and predimensioning was founded on the executed structure design. Using this data and certain inputs, it was created two structural designs, being some of the internal wall’s weight the only difference between them. The software Eberick was used as a tool for the development of the designs. Considering the obtained strengths and reinforcement bars needed for each case, it was aimed to check the actual interference of switching those loads on the calculated elements. As a result, the reinforcement ratios on the structure were diminished when using the drywall system, and it led to a cheaper structure.
