Resumo: Abstract: The software evolution allowed the analysis and dimensioning of structures in reinforced concrete to become more precise and less complex. Allied to this, there is the fact of the new requirements introduced through the ABNT NBR 6118 reviews, focused on the durability of the structure. However, the study on the design of more complex stairs did not follow this development. The present work intends to evaluate the criterions for structural analysis and design of slabless staircases made of reinforced concrete, taking as an example the staircase existing in block B of the UTFPR - Campus Pato Branco, built in 1988. For this purpose, in the first stage, preliminary modelings were performed through SAP2000 software with three types of elements: bars, grid analogy and shell elements. Among the models it was observed that the most suitable representation of the structure under study is the model in shell elements. The second stage was modeling the staircase of block B varying the requirements of the ABNT NBR 6118 versions from 1978 and 2014. Finally, the two projects are compared and the conclusions about the impacts of changes in ABNT NBR 6118 and the evolution of the design tools of this kind of staircase are presented.
