Resumo: This research aims to analyze the works O Mistério do Cinco Estrelas (1981), Enigma Na Televisão (1987) and Na Rota do Perigo (1991), by the Brazilian writer Marcos Rey, manifesting his singular contribution to the Brazilian youth detective novel’s consolidation. In this way, is systematized considerations about the trajectory of the universal detective novel genre until its arrival to the Brazilian literary scope through theories of reputable authors such as the French Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac (1991) and the Brazilian Paulo Medeiros e Albuquerque (1979), noting that currently there is a lag to publications about the Marcos Rey novels and his youth detective novel literature, it justifies the relevance of this research. It is noted that the public’s acceptance by the detective novel genre is wide and for this reason the detective novel can be the significant path for the formation of a young reader. Thinking about that, the Editora Ática created the Série Vaga-Lume with the intention of contemplating narratives that did not exceed 168 pages and has invited Marcos Rey to integrate the group of authors to publish attractive and mysterious stories, with youth themes, so that adolescents could awaken the taste and habit for reading. Therefore, the work discusses the life and work of Marcos Rey, his influences and experiences until his glorious arrival in youth detective novel literature, where his triumph is confirmed in 1981 with O Mistério do Cinco Estrelas, book that had its print run exhausted quickly in the first edition and became a sales success. Thus, presents Marcos Rey and his development in the youth detective novel through its own characteristics and the influence of the traditional structure of the genre. Finally, the result is the consolidation of the Brazilian youth detective novel through innovative writing, theory and traditional structural phases of the genre present in the three works analyzed.
