Resumo: This research aims at a comparative analysis between the short stories of the writers Edgar Allan Poe and Julio Cortázar, from the perspective of the Comparative Literature. The short stories "Ligeia" published in the book Contos de Imaginação e Mistério, "William Wilson", published in the book Histórias Extraordinárias by Edgar Allan Poe, and with the short stories "Longinqua" published in the book Bestiário and "uma flor amarela" published in the book Final do Jogo, both by Julio Cortázar. With the purpose of establish a dialogue that seeks to relate the stories with in the perspective of comparison, having as there search focus the theme of the double.Will be presented definitions about comparative literature, the fantastic literature Double literature. Subsequently the comparative analyzes between fantastic stories Will be developed.
