Resumo: |
The present work contains an archetypal analysis of three great goddesses of Celtic mythology, Morrigan, Macha, and Maeve, relating their characteristics to contemporary women. The myths analyzed are in Trina Robbins’s Wild Irish Roses (2004), Ademilson S. Franchini’s As Melhores Histórias da Mitologia Celta (2012), and in Christian Léourier’s Contos e Lendas da Mitologia Celta (2008). To connect ancient myths with our reality, we have used the book by Carol S. Pearson and Margaret Mark, O Herói e o Fora-da-Lei (2001). The present work is based on the theory of the archetypes developed by Carl G. Jung, as well as the journey of the hero developed by Joseph Campbell in O Herói de Mil Faces (1997). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of mythology to society, to understand how archetypes influence people's personality, to identify the relationship between contemporary women and Celtic goddesses, and how myths can resurface through books, paintings, illustrations, songs, poems and in electronic games. Our analysis focused on demonstrating that the archetypes of the collective unconscious are present in virtually everything around us. Recognizing these archetypes enables self-travel through them it is possible to understand the myths and relate the heroic narratives to the lives of ordinary people in contemporaneity. |
