The purpose of this work is to indicate the contributions related to the contemporary detective fiction in the literary novel Sobremeninos e lobos, written by the American writer Dennis Leahne, and in its namesake film adaptation by the director Clint Eastwood. Both of the works are representative of the modifications suffered by the genre, since its beginnings, with Edgar Allan Poe, until the most recent detective novels. If before, in the traditional crime fiction genre, the investigate process was the main focus, in the contemporary the relations that are outside the connexion between detective, crime and murder are tightly explored, notoriously the ones that talk about existentialist and interpersonal issues from the characters. Therefore, the literature novel written by Lehane, its adaptation directed by Eastwood and, in special, the characters will be the aim of the study, in order to permeate the discussion about the rereading of crime fiction novel tradition and how the film adaptation brings its contribution. |
