Resumo: This final paper (TCC) aims to analyze how Harry Potter’s serie, a novel filled with descriptions and narratives and a great success in the early twenty-first century, has influenced the formation of readers and how it happens. To verify this hypothesis, there was first a bibliographical research and then a quantitative one, applied to Languages course from Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, Campus Pato Branco. The bibliography, was based on studies by Leonardo Arroyo (2011), Ligia Cademartori (2010), Nelly N. Coelho (2000) and Muniz Sodré (1988), and from them it was possible to examine children and youth literature and mass literature concepts. Through this research, it was possible to see that this branch of literature is used in classrooms and what is the influence of these children and youth works, considered best-seller, in the life of children and teenagers. This quantitative research has proved that the work has been influential on the process of readers formation for the youngsters who read it, as well as the path that sees it through. This study is relevant and can contribute to the process of reading instruction in classrooms because this is a work that has the power to trigger the reader's curiosity so that classical literature can be introduced and formalized in their life.
