A relationship between a life experience of the author and his representative characters is verified, thus verifying their significations. The work The Little Prince was published in 1943, and had and still has worldwide repercussion for being the third best selling book in the history of the classics. Known for being a work of children's literature, its vast content and richness of "moral lessons" turns out to be a reading directed also for adults. Antoine impresses his readers with his work that speaks of themes such as love, his intention, gratitude, among others, even though it was written in a turbulent period of his life, when he was exiled in the United States in the period of World War II. An analysis constituted through the bibliographic study, through the collection of data in books and articles. And it is through the contextualization of the work The Little Prince, describing a relation author and work, identifying the symbolic elements through the author, through a summary of what is semiotic, that comes to a conclusion on how symbolic images as characters Little Prince, The Rose and the Volcanoes. In this way it was possible to conclude that life and as experiences of the author, certainly, is part and influenced as imagistic representations of the work cited. Este trabalho é resultado de um estudo sobre como a vida de Antoine de Saint-Exupéry influenciou nas escolhas simbólicas dentro da obra O Pequeno Príncipe, tendo em vista o contexto histórico em que a mesma foi criada. Objetiva-se compreender a relação entre a experiência de vida do autor e suas personagens representativas verificando-se assim as suas significações. A obra O Pequeno Príncipe foi publicada em 1943, sendo que teve e ainda tem repercussão mundial por ser o terceiro livro mais vendido na história dos clássicos. Conhecida por ser uma obra da Literatura Infantil, seu vasto conteúdo e sua riqueza de “lições morais” acaba por torná-la uma leitura direcionada também para adultos. Antoine impressiona seus leitores com sua obra que fala de temas como amor, esperança, gratidão, dentre outros, mesmo tendo sido escrita em um período turbulento de sua vida, quando foi exilado nos Estados Unidos no período da Segunda Guerra Mundial. A análise constituiu-se através de estudo bibliográfico, mediante coleta de dados em livros e artigos. E é através da contextualização da obra O Pequeno Príncipe, descrevendo a relação autor e obra, identificando os elementos simbólicos utilizados pelo autor, através de um resumo do que é semiótica, que se chega à uma conclusão sobre as imagens simbólicas as personagens Pequeno Príncipe, a Rosa e os Vulcões.
