Even if Fernando Pessoa may have been influenced mostly by Goethe when recreating the legend of Fausto, we intend to comment on a series of influences from other poets and prose writes that may have influenced, either positively or negatively, slightly or majorly, the writing of Pessoa’s Fausto. Using the four publications of Pessoa's Fausto, and Harold Bloom, Ludwig Scheidl, Albin Eduard Beau and Eduardo Lourenço and Jeronimo Pizarro as theoric contribution, this piece intends to reconstruct by revisiting the influence of Gomes Leal, Eugenio de Castro and Eça de Queiroz, based on evidences found on Pessoa’s assets on National Library of Portugal, Fernando Pessoa’s personal library and on Casa Fernando Pessoa a part of this mesh of influences. |
