Resumo: In a rapidly growing energy demand scenario, renewables have been seen as the answer to ensure a sustainable energy grid. In Brazil, the photovoltaic sources under distributed generation have become more and more popular day after day. However, characteristics of photovoltaics may lead the Power Factor of the prosumer to unacceptable rates. This paper, then, showcases the development of an Energy Management System over the Power Factor of a Microgrid with real data from photovoltaic generation units and load. The expectancy of charges over reactive excess is analized and control strategies are implemented addressing it through Supervisory Control Theory. The resulting supervisor enhances the system’s Power Factor response, reducing costs related to reactive power excess.
