Resumo: This work addresses the concept of class D amplifiers (switching amplifiers), indicating it as a substitute for other classes of audio amplifiers in some specific applications, because it is more efficient and it is possible to obtain a satisfactory audio quality. In this paper it is discussed the classes of audio amplifiers, the topologies of class D amplifiers, the main modulations used and the differences between an analog and a digital class D. Once the complete bridge topology, digital modulation and 3-level pulse width modulation (PWM) are chosen, each step is analyzed to ultimately be designed based on theory. Computational numerical simulations are developed in the R and LTspice R softwares to validate the projected steps of the circuit and the PSIM project as a whole. A prototype is developed for the acquisition of experimental results to determine the parameters that characterize the amplifier and compose its table of technical specifications. Finally, simulation and experimental results of the designed and implemented amplifier are presented, compared and discussed.
