Resumo: Energy efficiency is a much discussed term these days, issue this present in several studies, this work presents a structural chassis analysis of an energy efficiency prototype through the finite element method, focusing on the structure weight reduction as well as ensure as failure. An energy efficiency prototype is built specifically to participate in university competitions, which are to Brazilian universities Maratona da Eficiência energética in São Paulo, Brazil and the Shell Eco-marathon in Detroit. This paper deals with the way they are formulated finite element models is of utmost importance for the analysis, directly influencing the calculation efficiency. The formulation of the stiffness matrix depends on the characteristics of the elements, these have cases applicable to each well seeking determining an element applicable to the case with lower mathematical formulation. The steps for implementing a problem of the discretization of the structure until the determination of the nodal displacements. To determine the mass results and tension the known properties of the materials used in combination with such displacements are necessary. The load applied to the structure is approached in order to get as close to reality while maintaining simplicity in the analysis for response in short time, turning dynamic loading in static, not to use time-dependent conditions and nonlinearities. So the chassis analysis is performed with various commercial structural shapes, seeking the combination of better results in terms of weight reduction while maintaining the mechanical strength of the structure.
