Nitroaromatic can be reduced to yield aromatic amines through the use of acid and zerovalent metal. These amines are used as starting point for the synthesis of intermediates of various substances such pharmaceuticals and liquid crystals. The defense industries that produce TNT generate, among others, the red water as residue. This contains asymmetric forms of TNT's that in this work, are recovered and reduced in aqueous medium. This work can be divided into two stages: one in which used was only pure reagents, and in the other the red water. n the rst step was taken acetylation and nitration of aniline, and then the nitroacetanilide was \deprotected" for synthesizing an azo compound. Each formed intermediate was characterized by infra red and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. In the second step, the recovery and reduction of nitroaromatic present in the red water was made. Due of the di culty of extracting the reaction products in the red water, we opted for the reaction one pot in aqueous medium and then characterized by TLC. |
