Resumo: The aim of this study was to evaluate viable methodologies for the treatment of residue rich in chromium (Cr), from laboratory analyzes performed by the Laboratory of Soil UTFPR - Campus PatoBranco and show its efficiency of removal based on the concentration of chromium (Cr) present in crude and tested residue using the method of atomic absorption spectrophotometry Flame. The residue is produced in the quantitation of organic matter present in soil, which is done by the method of oxidation of organic matter by potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7). That at the end of the analysis process produces a very high amount of chromium [III] (Cr3+). The treatment used the method of chemical precipitation to precipitate chromium [III] (Cr3+) in solution in the form of chromiumhydroxide (Cr(OH)3), easily separated by filtration. The work showed great efficiency because the Cr content present in the treated wastewater became very close to the value required by Resolution CONAMA 430/2011, needing only go through a secondary treatment process to fit the required standards.
