Resumo: The dyeing process in textile industries generate effluents with high levels of coloration and difficult degradation, becoming a menace to the environment where it is discarded, In the treatment of these waste, the color removal is difficult and expensive, so, are being studied new ways to remove these effluents, making these effluents respect the environmental norms, searching incessantly to make the process faster, cheaper and with higher efficiency of coloring removal. The treatment through the adsorption process has proved to be one of the most efficient, however, adsorbents traditionally used in the process are very expensive, often making it impossible to treat large amounts of effluents by this method. So, the use of an alternative adsorbent with low commercial value, can enable the use of this treatment method. In this way, this work proposes the use of corn straw as an as adsorbent in the process of 4B red dye removal. This alternative adsorbent showed a good dye adsorption capacity, having practically nonexistent market value, because it is a corn production waste, making it a viable alternative for the treatment of effluents in this genre.
