Resumo: The execution flaws, that are frequently found in civil constructions in Brazil, result in a series of pathological outcomes. Those are revealed in short term periods, after the conclusion and during the occupation; these problems compromise the functionality, comfort, esthetics and, very often, even its end users security. This Senior Thesis proposes, by using a study case, to certify how the execution of each construction phase without observing the technical standards may imply in flaws that are frequently seen in public buildings. The visitations were “in loco”; in one public construction site and there were taken photographic records of the pathologies, that afterwards were sorted by typology and had theirs likely causes identified accordingly to researches from renowned authors from this study area. The following procedure was to verify the Lexecution procedures, recommended by norms, for each constructive element that presented a flaw. Lastly there was made an investigation of the execution procedures implemented in the construction by consulting the records of the responsible company for the construction. It was certainly verified that the pathologies come from flaws made by the unprepared of the workers and bad quality of the materials, showing the inefficiency of the contract criteria for public constructions in Brazil, that is the cheapest project, sacrificing the resultant building quality.
