Resumo: The control and measurement of speed for agricultural transport equipment have great relevance for a transport capacity monitoring system, allowing to know with precision the total and instantaneous quantity of total product moved by the system. Thus, a speed measurement system was developed for a grain conveyor belt, widely used in Processing and Storage Units for agricultural products (UBPA) .The system used two sensors, a light dependent resistor and an optical sensor to measure the distance traveled by the belt. Based on the collected data, a microcontroller was used to measure a time interval and, with the distance acquired by the sensors, calculate the instantaneous speed of the tape. The same microcontroller also interfaced with a computer for data presentation and acquisition. The obtained data is close to the estimated values, with a maximum error of 2.31% relative to the estimated unloaded speed and -5.13% relative to the speed calculated using data from the frequency inverter, showing that an upgrade to the precision of the current real-time monitoring system is possible. The error can be minimized with some better implementation in the speed measurement system, indicating that it could be applied in the total volume transported calculation for commercial use.
