Resumo: This work investigated the planning and execution of a sourcing event for contracting truck freight services to transport liquid bulks for a company in the agro-industrial business. A structured negotiation process carried out in 8 steps, the tendering of over 23 thousand truckloads and R$ 105 million in freight spend fell within the scope of this project. The development of the sourcing event included setting up a mathematical model for the minimization of the cost of the tendered volume. The solution of the model pointed to a R$ 10.54 million opportunity in freight savings that, given operational constraints and the results of the contract negotiation, ended up to a year captured savings value of R$ 9.77 million. The result overcame leadership expectations in R$ 1.35 million. The outcome of this work advises extent the sourcing event initiative to other transportation segments in the organization as well as suggests that new initiatives on supplier management are necessary.
