Resumo: Circular economy is a principle that aims to replace the linear model of production, aiming at the reuse of all the components used to manufacture a product. It is a different way of producing and consuming a product, with a perspective from life cycle. Could be considered as a way to reduce the potential impacts of man on the environment, since the waste disposal is minimal, because it’s used as inputs for new products to be produced. Than, with all the benefits brought by this model, the focus of this paper is to identify opportunities for circular economy in an assembly line of engines of the automotive sector from approaches of design for excellence (DfX). For this, some of them were selected through a systematic review of the literature on circular economy and design for excellence, in addition to conducting a case study on a specific part of engine production in an automotive industry. As a result, a list of actions related to each DfX inside Resolve’s structure was elaborated, to increase the circularity of the engine of the company studied. These results allowed to identify opportunities for improvements to be applied in the current process and for the remanufacturing of the line of engines with the purpose of increasing the life cycle and facilitating its afterlife, so that the same product can return to the cycle as a new one.
