The main objective of this work is to propose a definition for the efficiency of material handling in a packaging factory. Initially a bibliographical research related to the subjects of materials movement, internal logistics, storage and efficiency was conducted in order to understand the state of the art of the subject. Subsequently, the scope of this work was defined, and then the internal logistics operations of this company were analyzed. The processes of receiving raw materials and storage of these resources, of internal movement of materials in the warehouse, of displacement of these resources for the productive lines, the receipt of finished product and the expedition of these materials were analyzed. The study did not take into account material movements in the production processes, movements in the external warehouse, waste movements and movements carried out by automatically guided vehicles. In relation to the classification of the research, from the point of view of its nature, it is an applied research, the form of approach is quantitative, according to the objectives it is characterized as an exploratory research. From the point of view of technical procedures a case study is set up. For the analysis of the efficiency in the movement of materials was used the indicators: Efficiency in the movement of materials, Global Efficiency in the movement of materials and financial loss with the lack of efficiency in the movement of materials. In relation to the results, it was observed that the average of the indicator Efficiency in the movement of materials is 41% and the Global Efficiency in the movement of materials is 20%. |
