Resumo: The present work seek to outline the characteristics of Production Planning and Control in Micro and Small Companies in the metalworking sector. Initially, it was sought through a government database to identify which economic activity classes these companies were part of. Then, a self-filled questionnaire was applied to the PCP managers in 14 companies of the segment analyzed according to the profile in the city of Ponta Grossa, but only 7 companies answered the questionnaire. As a result, it has been identified that most of these companies mainly use the processes of machining and welding in the manufacture of their products. The machining operations that include Turning, Drilling and Milling stood out, with participation in 86% of the cases. The most commonly used welding process is welding with electrode, present in 70% of cases. The production process is in-cell and the products are custom-made, and mainly use customer orders to schedule production. In 86% of the cases, there is no formal PCP system and planning occurs only at the operational level in the short term. The lack of a larger planning horizon makes it difficult to control production and causes delays in the delivery of orders.
