Resumo: This study aims to design a heat exchanger that uses gold nanofluids as coolant. It brings the theories about heat exchangers and nanofluids, as well as the mathematical modeling needed for the conception of a functional prototupe for this paper. It aims to provide an extra tool for the study on the unique characteristics of heat transfer in nanofluids. It presentes the 3D modeling and the construction of a prototype to demonstrate the efficiency of gold nanofluids as coolant compared to those already existent on the market. The results obtained from preliminary tests with distillated water, ethylene glycol and gold nanofluids, proved to be inconsistent with the literature. However, theses results served on the survey of necessary modifications to be applied on the prototype, which will allow it to be used on researches with nanofluids.
