Resumo: This graduation thesis was developed in the laboratories of the Federal Technological University of Paraná, Ponta Grossa campus, and State University of Ponta Grossa, Uvaranas campus, this research is about experimental basis. A problem that affects many types of materials, especially metals, is corrosion, which one is responsible for large economic losses. In many cases, after processes such as mechanical forming (drawing, extrusion and rolling processes), heat treatment and surface treatment, some residual stresses are inevitable. These stresses can directly influence the lifetime of the metal and one of its ways is changing the reactivity of these materials in some media. Faced with these considerations, this paper studied, through electrochemical tests, the influence of sulfuric acid and oxalic acid in the resting potential and corrosion rates they generate in AISI 1020 metal, when it is cold hard drawn by traction process . The specimens were pulled 0, 10, 15, 20 and 25%. Therefore, further studies can be proposed in order to generate solutions to mitigate the losses caused by corrosion.
