Resumo: The need to study heat treatment processes for common steels of low carbon percentage is due to the low utilization for these certain hardenability steels because they have a high reduction of toughness. Since some time until the present time the study of these steels have been growing widely, because they have very striking properties such as excellent workability, high capacity machining, high formability, weldability and high primarily a low cost to the industry. In searching for properties that differentiate ordinary low carbon steels, this research sought to increase the heat treatment of quenching and tempering different and evaluate the performance of the material in relation to the obtained final properties. The samples, after treatment, were evaluated for their hardness, brittleness and strength, such as their microstructures obtained.
