This paper presents a comparative study about the characteristics of brazed aluminum products with different addition modes. The study was conducted with the Continental do Brasil Produtos Automotivos Ltd. company with a branch in Ponta Grossa - Paraná. The objectives were to evaluate the joint fill, mechanical and metallurgical properties of brazed joints with three different methods of addition. Wire rings of Filalu 1192 were used with manual protection flow addition; wire rings of AlSi12 with internal protection flow and aluminum brazing paste NPA 1070-400. Samples of each method were brazed in the company and undergo metallographic and microhardness tests to evaluate mechanical and metallurgical characteristics results. Fill joint, metallographic and microhardness analysis were realized for results comparisons. The results indicated that the three methods of addition can produce brazed joints conforming. The ring without internal flow showed the highest values of microhardness in the brazed region and lower intake of added material. The ring with internal flow showed higher joint fill and appropriate values of microhardness. The folder had the highest brazing filler gasket, a higher consumption of added material and a modified eutectic microstructure, however no significant changes in hardness. |
