Resumo: The processing of materials in semi-solid state is restricted in the industrial area due to the low variety of materials used in the process (aluminum alloys A356 and A357) and the limited use of recycled alloys. Based on that, the aim of this study was to analyze the microstructural behavior in the semi-solid state from globularization test of a different aluminum alloy (A380) obtained by recycling, with addition of refiner and modifier with 200ppm of Sr. From the DSC test and using Scheil equation, it was possible to obtain the required temperature of the material for the 60% solid fraction, which was 565 ° C. After this procedure, the globularization test was performed with three retention times (300, 600 and 900 seconds). After globularization test, samples were analyzes by conventional metallography and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). These analyzes allowed to obtain the grain size, shape factor and the threedimensional morphology of the eutectic. These analyzes showed the effectiveness of the globularization test in the microstructural evolution, mainly for the retention times of 600 and 900 seconds, where the structures presented more globularization, as indicated by the results of the S factor.
