Resumo: |
This work emphasizes the role of university libraries and the initiatives used to increase access to
products and services available on the web, among which electronic journals, digital libraries and institutional
repositories stand out. Thus, we investigated what are the public universities in the state of Paraná which use
open access tools to information. It was used as methodological approaches the literature research for the
development of the theoretical basis, the exploratory and documental research for consulting the official website
of each institution, and the descriptive research to report the reality found. Its main objects were the following
institutions: Unicentro, UEL, UEM, Unioeste, UENP, UEPG, UFPR and UTFPR. It was noted, as a partial
result, that UEPG and UTFPR disseminate the institutional repository at their respective sites; whereas UEM and
UFPR provide different types of documents on the Digital Library platform, which allows these digital libraries
to be considered as repositories. The study showed in all the universities studied, the existence of digital libraries
of theses and dissertations. It also showed that electronic journals are usually developed by other sectors of the
institution, and isolated initiatives in universities, and also that, in most cases, these journals were developed
from the use of the OJS software customized by Ibict as Electronic System for Publishing Magazines (Seer). The
study made it possible to analyze and describe the current scenario in the studied libraries, which mostly make
use of tools for open access to information in their products and services. It was concluded that more and more
libraries adhere to these new technologies to add value to their products and services in order to meet the users’
needs. |
