Resumo: The present work proposes the study of the adsorption capacity of lead in aqueous solution with initial concentration of 50 mgL-1 trough melanine paper residue compared to bentonite clay, already known by being an efficient adsorbent of this contaminant. The study presents from sample preparation by washing and thermal treatment until the kinetic study. The results evidenced the influence of the pH of the lead solution, the calcination temperature and the adsorbent mass used. The obtained results indicate as optimum conditions of operation pH 5, calcination temperature of 500ºC and mass of 0,1g of adsorbent. The obtained data are adequate to the kinetic model of Pseudo-second order, with an adsorption capacity to 42,21 mgg-1. The melanine paper showed an inefficient adsorbent in the way it was prepared and for chosen parameters.
