Resumo: Energy sources are not currently represented by oil, natural gas and coal as they are considered to be non-renewable and can not be regenerated. It is one of the reasons why countries become richer and more meaningful for countries with large resources, as well as for high prices and the high incidence of prosecutions. In this sense, the present work was characterized as an initial study of an alternative for the use of glycerol, through a bacteriological fermentation with the purpose of producing a higher value-added metabolite, ethanol. With this research, glycerol, a by-product of the biodiesel industry, can be transformed into a higher value-added product from bacteriological biofermentation. The presented results can guarantee the starting point for the new students in this topic, noting the statistical statistics that can be compared with the variables of selection of independent factors, like the pH and the concentration of glycerol. . In addition, it can be evaluated other controllable variables that interfere directly in the cycle of bacteria, such as the different temperature levels of the culture medium and aeration.
