Resumo: Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are polyesters produced by various microorganisms that synthesize and accumulate them in the form of intracellular granules, provided there is excess nutrient and carbon source limitation in the culture medium. Biopolymers are polysaccharides of microbial origin, also known as gums, which have the ability to form gels and viscous solutions in aqueous media. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the production of PHA biopolymers, from the use of industrial hydrocarbon residues such as motor oil, frying oil and sugarcane bagasse. In the experiments were verified the production of microbial cells, kinetics, hydrogenation potential, titratable acidity, determination of the total sugars concentration in the fermented, dry biomass and extraction of PHA, using a factorial experimental design 23, with three central points. As a result Sphingomonas spp. Submitted to the fermentation medium containing 5 g L-1 frying vegetable oil and 5 g L-1 cane bagasse broth obtained higher amount of PHA at the end of 192 h, with higher productivity during the log phase of growth. New researches similar to those in this study are important, and the continuation of this work would be interesting in order to verify the possible industrial application of the polymer produced.
