Resumo: This study addresses the issue of shading on photovoltaic systems. Brazil has great content of solar radiation in its territory, so the use of photovoltaic energy has great potential to become an important source in the Brazilian energy matrix. Photovoltaic systems can be installed on top of houses and buildings, forming decentralized energy systems, in which energy is produced close to where it is consumed, avoiding waste in the stages of transmission and distribution. But when these photovoltaic systems are integrated into roofs or facades of buildings placed in dense urban areas, they tend to receive partial shading of its surroundings, which is quite detrimental to its power generation performance. A project for a PV system, when designed with the building from the start by an architect and a multidisciplinary team should have a deep analysis of local conditions where it will be installed to prevent possible losses to the system, and also add beauty to its functionality. This paper presents a study on the shading on the grid connected photovoltaic system of Escritório Verde of UTFPR, and what are its consequences on the yield of energy production system. To get the result, a 3D model was made of the building and its surroundings in Sketchup software, along with analyzes of RADIASOL software and readings of the inverter installed in the existing system.
