In 1972 at the United Nations Conference on the Environment this term was established as a benchmark for sustainable development. Since this event took place, it was proclaimed that the protection and improvement of human environment have become a fundamental issue, which may affect population welfare as well as the economic development of the whole world. Based on these principles and on the new literature that covers the theme mentioned, this study aimed to give an overview of the technical training of civil engineers and architects in Brazilian universities and the opportunities in the sustainable construction market. Moreover, the carried out study intended to evaluate the existence of disciplines focused on sustainability in civil construction and on entrepreneurship, included in course structures of the universities degrees under discussion, offered in the country. The research also aimed to characterize a professional profile that would be indicated to fulfill duties in sustainability department of construction companies, as well as to identify opportunities in the sustainable construction market in Civil Construction. For this reason, civil engineering, architecture and urban planning course structures of Brazilian universities and colleges of all states were gathered and analyzed. Those universities and colleges offer a preliminary course index (CPC) ≥ 4, referring to training on sustainability in construction and entrepreneurship. It was also identified among trade associations what would be a suitable profile for a modern professional willing to work in the sustainability market of civil construction. Among the results obtained it was verified that few institutions have disciplines, which in their title, contemplate sustainability and entrepreneurship. Hence, it is suggested the implementation of these disciplines in course structures of the universities degrees mentioned in all regions of the country. O termo sustentabilidade tem sido muito utilizado nas últimas décadas, em diferentes contextos e há muita literatura que versa sobre o mesmo em diferentes lugares deste mundo dito globalizado. Foi em 1972, na Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre o meio Ambiente Urbano, que este termo foi estabelecido como o marco referencial do desenvolvimento sustentável. A partir desse evento, proclamou-se que a proteção e o melhoramento do meio humano passam a ser questão fundamental que afeta o bem-estar dos povos e o desenvolvimento econômico do mundo inteiro. Ancorado nesses princípios e na literatura sobre a temática, este estudo objetivou fazer um panorama da formação técnica de engenheiros civis e arquitetos nas Universidades brasileiras e das oportunidades no mercado de construções sustentáveis. Além de aferir a existência de disciplinas voltadas especificamente a assuntos relacionados a sustentabilidade na construção civil e a empreendedorismo, nos cursos em questão, ofertados no país; identificar o perfil de um profissional indicado para atuar no setor de sustentabilidade das construtoras, bem como identificar oportunidades no mercado de construções sustentáveis na Construção Civil. Para isso, realizou-se um levantamento e uma análise das grades curriculares dos cursos de engenharia civil e arquitetura e urbanismo das universidades e faculdades de todos os estados brasileiros, que apresentaram um conceito preliminar de curso (CPC) ≥4, referente à formação dos alunos sobre sustentabilidade na construção civil e empreendedorismo. Também foram identificados entre os órgãos de classe qual é o perfil indicado para um profissional moderno que possa atuar no mercado da sustentabilidade na construção civil. Dentre os resultados obtidos constatou-se que são poucas as instituições que apresentam disciplinas, que no seu título, contemplam sustentabilidade e o empreendedorismo.
