Developing projects that result in energy-efficient buildings means the application of principles where local climate and user needs are strongly taken into consideration. The energy efficiency of buildings is a contribution to sustainability because it reduces the consumption of renewable and non-renewable resources while maintaining the standard of user comfort. The study analyzed and classified the energy performance of the envelope design of a public administrative pavilion by means of the Prescriptive Method parameters of the RTQ-C. The project will be developed in Rio Negro, PR, bioclimatic zone 2. The project was developed according instructions and regulations of the user institution and was not designed to receive the label. The project is based on the use of building systems more common in Brazil, such as the ceramic block masonry, concrete structure covered with ceramic tiles. The classification of the project in relation to the Index of Consumer Envelopment, which considers parameters of shape, orientation and openings, reached level A. However the prerequisites for evaluating materials in relation to the external thermal transmittance reached level C. Proposed improvements encompass insulating materials and the inclusion of more layers of materials, maintaining the same system constructive and aesthetic characteristics. Thermal transmittance of the external walls of the project is 2.48 W / (m². K). The pre-requisite for bioclimatic zone 2 to Level A is Upar maximum of 1.0 W / (m².K); to achieve this value a layer of foam and another layer of masonry were added. The thermal transmittance of the coverage of the project is 1.80 W / (m². K). The prerequisite for bioclimatic zone 2 to level A is Ucob maximum 0.5 W / (m². K); to achieve this figure layers of aluminum which polyethylene and glass wool lining were added. With such improvements, the project reached level A. The improvements reflect a considerable increase in the total building costs and reflect also the inefficiency of the major building systems Brazilians with regard to thermal insulation for bioclimatic zones 1 and 2. |
