INMETRO is responsible for maintaining the international quality of the measures so that we can commercialize the domestic products abroad. Thus, the calibrations of the measurement equipment are made by companies accredited to INMETRO. These companies serve different industry sectors, which need these quality certifications to be able to market their products. Thus, employees of metrology companies serving these industries may be exposed to different environments, which can be detrimental to employee health. An example is the noise caused by different equipment used in the industries, which can cause serious damages to the hearing capacity of the employee. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate noise levels in a calibration technician of a Metrology company, as well as to evaluate if the noise levels were in accordance with the national legislation and to verify if the equipment of protection is efficient to mitigate environmental noise. For this, noise evaluations were performed during 10 days of work by a technician responsible for equipment calibrations in different companies. It can be noticed that the intensity of the noises varied according to the place of visit of the technician, that is, according to the company that the same visited. In some cases, the noise intensity was above the limits permitted by national legislation, but with the use of personal protective equipment noise was attenuated to within the levels allowed by legislation. Thus, it can be concluded that, even with calibration activity that could be detrimental to technicians, the use of individual protection, in this case an ear protector, was indicated and important to maintain the technician's hearing health. A Metrologia é a ciência responsável pela qualidade das unidades de medidas, as quais são baseadas nas normas do Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia (INMETRO). O INMETRO é responsável por manter a qualidade internacional das medidas para que possamos realizar comercialização dos produtos nacionais para o exterior. Assim, as calibrações dos equipamentos de medida são feitas por empresas credenciadas ao INMETRO. Essas empresas atendem diferentes setores da indústria, os quais precisam dessas certificações de qualidade para poder comercializar seus produtos. Assim, funcionários das empresas de metrologia que atendem essas indústrias podem estar expostos a diferentes ambientes, os quais podem ser prejudiciais a saúde do funcionário. Um exemplo é o ruído causado por diferentes equipamentos utilizados nas indústrias, os quais podem causar sérios danos a capacidade auditiva do funcionário. Assim, o presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar os níveis de ruído em um técnico de calibração de uma empresa de Metrologia, bem como avaliar se os níveis de ruído estavam de acordo com a legislação nacional e verificar se o equipamento de proteção individual é eficaz para atenuar o ruído do ambiente. Para isso, foram realizadas avaliações de ruído durante 10 dias de trabalho de um técnico responsável por calibrações de equipamentos em diferentes empresas. Pode-se perceber que a intensidade dos ruídos variou de acordo com o local de visita do técnico, ou seja, de acordo com a empresa que o mesmo visitava. Em alguns casos, a intensidade de ruído ficou acima dos valores permitidos pela legislação nacional, porém, com a utilização do equipamento de proteção individual, o ruído foi atenuado, ficando dentro dos níveis permitidos pela legislação.
