Gears are one of the most important means of mechanical power transmission, thanks in part to its high efficiency, which can achieve more than 99% for a pair of gears. Due to its great application there is a growing demand for efficiency, longer life, higher energy density and less noise pollution. The aim of the present work was to correlate the coating variation (WC/C and DLC) with cylindrical spur gears (AISI 4320, cemented, tempered and tempered) with the change in noise generated by means of tributary tests of uncle FZG such as improving the working conditions of employees on the shop floor. Workers are subjected daily to unhealthy working conditions, due to the high noise levels generated by machines driven by gears. As a result, it was possible to observe that the DLC coating emitted less noise and the coating on WC / C increased noise during the tests. The exposure time for the DLC coated gears was 167% higher when compared to those coated with WC/C, without the use of personal protective equipment. |
