Resumo: The safety in the workplace is improving with the increase of oversight, training of new professionals and improvement of safety equipment’s. Despite those improvements, fatal accidents still a reality to the workers. The objective of this study is to identify, through police reports of accidents in the workplace, the different factors that led to the death of the worker, raising a generic profile of those who are in greater danger and which professional are marginalized in terms of safety in the workplace. For that, the police reports were summarized and analyzed, retrieving from them any quantitative information for subsequent analyzes. The result showed that any company, regardless of size, has a propensity to have a fatal accident among its employees. It was also verified that freelance professionals did not used safety equipment, among other points. In addition, it concludes that the use of safety equipment was found in only 41% of the accidents and head injuries were responsible for 80% the deaths.
