In a petrochemical industry in the state of Paraná - Brazil, there are provided two types of respirators for a homogeneous group of exposure (GHE) for the performance of their activities. The employees have questioned about the need of using or not the respirator and which one would be the most suitable for the current contaminants in this GHE workspace, this study gathered data and information on the features and specifications about the two types of respirators provided by this industry, evaluated statistically using the UCL tool the data from sampling in area for gases and hydrocarbon vapors in order to determine, with the help of a respirator selection questionnaire provided by NIOSH and adapted to this industry reality and the Brazilian legislation, the most suitable respirator for use by this GHE. As result this study showed the need of use of a full facepiece respirator. |
