Resumo: This research consists in an analysis of the luminotechnical conditions from the standpoint of environmental confort, quality and work safety, on the finishing sector of a textile factory located in Santa Catarina, Brazil. An environment which presents insufficient or excessive lighting may compromise visual health, safety and the production of workers. The study considered the analysis of environmental variables in the production process, with in situ observations and using measuring instruments. The investigation process is made through bibliographies on the subject, from official websites, monographs, theses, manuals and books. In the sequence are presented the checks of the current lighting system, split into four stages: verification of models and manufactorers of fixtures, ballasts and lamps; verification of the work conditions on the location (existence of dust and particulates, cleaning and lighting conditions); evaluation of minimum illuminance levels required by safety staff; and illuminance measurement. With the results in hand, were performed technical evaluations, compliance checks with current standards and presentation of a luminotechnical calculation method that may be used by the company to study ways to improve the lighting system, aiming its workers safety and therefore reducing costs with absenteeism.
