Resumo: Dust is a chemical agent that can be harmful to the health of the worker, especially when it contains crystalline silica. This type of dust is related to the appearance of several respiratory diseases of which we can mention silicosis, lung cancer and tuberculosis. Unhealthy work is one that results in constant injury to the health of theworker. The objective of this work was to analyze the concentrations of respirable dust containing crystalline silica and to compare the results with the limits of tolerance established in the legislation. NR 15 sets out the limits of tolerance to be considered in unhealthy environments. The methodology adopted was that recommended by Fundacentro in the Occupational Hygiene Standard 08 - Collection of Solid Particulate Material Suspended in the Air of Work Environments. The company that served as the focus of this study is responsible for the manufacture of mortar and is located in the metropolitan area of Curtiba. The results obtained by comparing the concentrations of silica dust quantified with the established tolerance limits are satisfactory in relation to the health of the worker. Concentrations are below the tolerance limits, in this way the work environment is not considered unhealthy to the worker, but even being considered salubrious, preventive care should be maintained so as not to expose and compromise the health of the worker.
