As the study of fire safety measures has increasingly become a factor of great importance in the protection of human life, and consequently, in the safeguard of property and its respective environment, fire safety research therefore continuous to be a captivating subject area to investigate. The scope of the present work is to address passive safety strategies through abandonment (evacuation) and to propose how they can be applied in existing buildings and planned in new buildings. The research carried out and portrayed in this work aimed to present a set of study elements through abandonment in a theatrical space. To this end, the research compared two theaters located in Curitiba with difference in construction time between them of approximately 50 years. An emergency evacuation was simulated in both theaters to test their emergency exits and the respective escape routes that those theaters give access to those exits in order to determine the overall evacuation time of occupants. Um dos fatores mais importantes para a garantia da proteção da vida humana é o estudo de evacuação dos ocupantes de um determinado edifício, em particular nos locais de grande concentração de público. Sendo o estudo de segurança contra incêndios cada vez mais um fator de elevada importância para a proteção da vida humana e também da salvaguarda do seu patrimônio e respectivo ambiente, torna-se assim imperativa a investigação desta temática. O escopo do presente trabalho é abordar as estratégias passivas de segurança através dos meios de abandono (evacuação), podendo ser aplicada nas edificações já existentes e serem propostas e projetadas nas novas edificações, apresentando um estudo normativo (analise de leis e normas técnicas) através de cálculos aplicado em um espaço teatral, comparando dois teatros localizados em Curitiba, com diferença de tempo de construção entre eles de aproximadamente 50 anos, considerando a existência de uma situação de emergência e pânico, com fins de caracterizar a localização das suas saídas de emergência e das respectivas vias de evacuação que lhe dão acesso, de forma a determinar e simular o tempo final da evacuação dos seus ocupantes.
