Resumo: The present work aims to show how a micro-generation of electricity derived from wind power potential, its advantages and disadvantages and guidelines for their use. Showing theoretical approach, complemented by field research with the help of competent bodies in information regarding measurement of winds in the city of Araucária, Curitiba metropolitan region. The present scenario in the context of electric power generation provides the incentive to apply concepts of residential electric generation. Due to climate change, the reservoirs of hydroelectric plants end up not having policies to maintain the same volume in certain periods of the year, reducing the flow to the turbines, causing the power injected into the system is insufficient to supply the energy consumption. Allied to this fact, there is also the growing demand for consumption of electric power, with that there is the need to seek alternative sources of energy which contribute to sustainable development, enabling the consumer to have its own electric power generation. With increasing concern about environmental issues and energy security, renewable energy sources have assumed an increasingly important role in the energy matrix. In the midst of these sources, the use of wind power is growing, as a kind of differentiated energy from others and indicating satisfactory results, but this requires a specific in-depth study of the region where it will be installed Microgeneration.
