Resumo: This paper presents briefly from literature and websites, the technology that created over the years evolved to the invention of the photovoltaic cell to generate clean and renewable electricity. Discusses the types of panels more suitable for these applications.Advantages and disadvantages of using solar energy. The work comments in a summarized way, the picture of the world panorama of existing photovoltaic technology for generating sustainable electricity. It demonstrates that Brazil for having a vast territory can certainly have this source of constant and abundant energy. It also shows environmental impacts of fossil energy sources that must be forgotten in the past. It presents a research relating to electricity consumption and electricity generation project from photovoltaic panels applicable in hospital buildings. As is mentioned when the Clinicas Hospital of the UFPR, where are required the necessary information for the presentation of calculations, with the intention of installing photovoltaic panels in Annex H of the hospital. In order to contribute to sustainability, with distributed generation and the Brazilian electrical system. Consumption will demonstrate the feasibility and likely. Having received the authorization of the management of hospital infrastructure contained in the Annex.
