Medium-consistency centrifugal pumps are widely used in the pulp and paper industry. In general, such equipment has a high number of interventions and a loss of production. The objective of this work is to elaborate a Reliability Engineering study for a medium consistency centrifugal pump applied in the area of cellulose bleaching, in order to identify the causes of low MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and consequently low reliability. The main methods adopted were the history of failure of this pump from its installation in 2007 until December 2018, using Reliasoft software to generate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) reliability and application curves to address the root causes of major identified failure modes and propose actions to mitigate root causes to increase the reliability of BMC (Medium Consistency Centrifugal Pump) |
